From page 129: One of Auburn's winningest basketball teams, the 1927-28 edition, won twenty of twenty-two games, including three victories in the Southern Conference Tournament, before losing to Ole Miss 32-31 in the championship game. Cliff "Jelly" Akin and Frank Dubose made All Southern. Fob James, Sr., captained the team.
