description This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 435: This 1979 photo ran in the 1998 Glomerata after the Tiger Theatre, "a treasured Auburn landmark, fell victim to the wrecking ball" in the fall of 1997. Monty Python's "Life of Brian" drew picketers in 1979, who called the film "blasphemous." The Tiger Theatre opened on College Street in 1928 and closed in 1984. It was remodeled into a mini-mall that included a Greek restaurant and later was replaced with the new home of the Gap and Foot Locker. The same Tiger looks down from the Gap wall that peered over the old Tiger Theatre marquee. Photo source: Glomerata, Auburn University Archives.
