Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 338: Chip Spratlin, a walk-on from Johnson City, Tennessee, became collegiate golf's rags-to-riches performer in 1995 by finishing first in the NCAA Championship at Ohio State University; his final tournament and his only victory in a four-year career at Auburn. ... Spratlin, the Tigers' number two player, is seen taking the individual lead with a first round five-under par 67, a lead that he never relinquished. ... Spratlin finished the 72-hole tournament with a five-under 283, one stroke better than runners-up from Arizona and Oklahoma State. Stanford's Tiger Woods finished three strokes back.
