From page 312: A new grand piano brought smiles to the faces of most of these AU music faculty members helping dedicate it in 1988. Seated, left to right, are Julia Morgan and Sylvia Gossett. Standing are Bob Richardson, Billy Tamblyn, Harold Kafer, Joseph Stephenson, Roy Wylie, and Bill Summerville. Tamblyn's bachelor's degree in 1948 was one of the first in music from API. ... When retiring in 1990, he had been on the AU music faculty for more than forty-two years and also had served as choir director and organist at Auburn First Presbyterian Church.
