description This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 80: The remodeled Presbyterian Church, circa 1900. Gone were the front porch and the centered cupola, replaced by a steeple and an arched foyer. Presbyterians worshiped there until 1917, when they moved to their new church at Gay Street and Thach Avenue. The old structure served as headquarters for the YMCA and YWCA, then for forty years as a theatre for the Auburn Players before being restored in the 1970s and becoming the University Chapel.
