This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 253: With less than six minutes left to play, unbeaten Alabama, ranked No. 2 in the land, led Auburn 16-3 in the 1972 Iron Bowl. As Bama's Greg Gantt lined up to punt, former walk-on linebacker Bill Newton (56) got the signal from the sidelines: "outside punt block." As a Tide guard defended the outside rush, Newton went past him up the middle, with Ken Bernich (53) backing him up ... and David Langner (28) returned it ... for a touchdown. With about 90 seconds remaining, Newton amazingly did it again, as did Langner. ... Gardner Jett's extra point sealed one of Auburn's greatest victories, 17-16, and a 9-1 regular season.
