Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 252: Pat Sullivan gave credit to his family, coaches, teammates, and others in accepting the 1971 Heisman Trophy as the best college football player in the land. The presentation was made in New York City. As Sullivan responded, Auburn President Harry M. Philpott, movie actor John Wayne, and Coach Ralph Jordan sat to his right. Teammate Terry Beasley also was at the head table, at Sullivan's far left. More than seventy years earlier, John W. Heisman, the man for whom the trophy was named, had coached at Auburn.
