This image is a color version of a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 344: The highlight of WEGL radio station's twentieth birthday party in 1991 came when 136 couples kissed simultaneously in a ten-second kiss-a-thon. Lip-to-lip they tried to enter the Guinness Book of World Records in a new category. ... Just before AU's kiss-a-thon began, couples assembled in the middle of the pavilion next to the Student Activities Center "while singles were encouraged to form lines on the sides in hopes of finding a partner," the Plainsman said. ... "Throughout the day," the Glomerata reported, "WEGL played songs from the Top 100 list of 1971, when the station first hit the air waves ... with only 10 watts of power."
