This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 322: [President] James Martin (1984-92), a pianist, plays jazz by ear. He enjoys three 1956 Ford Thunderbirds, flying, reading John Grisham novels, remembering Robert W. Service poems, and walking with his wife, Ann, a former Auburn cheerleader. As guest co-pilot of an F-5 Air Force jet while president, Martin made three passes over Samford Hall. The six-foot-six former basketball player's knees were wedged under the plane's instrument panel. Martin said he would have been "in deep trouble" had he needed to eject.
