description This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 119: Led by the API band, about half of the 1,500 students and a good number of faculty members took the All-College Hike of 1924. They left Samford Hall early Saturday afternoon and, passing a parked car and wagon on the way, walked approximately one mile north of Auburn. There the games began, including tug-of-war, pillow fights, a boxing match, and a coed football game. After the athletics came a picnic supper, followed at dusk by fireworks.
