description This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 305: The Auburn band marched near the nation's Capitol in the inaugural parade for President George [H. W.] Bush in January 1989. "It was a painfully cold day; the poor majorettes nearly froze," recalled Johnnie Vinson, then director of the 315-member band. It was the band's first inaugural parade since Harry Truman's inauguration in 1949. The musicians played "Hosts of Freedom" and "Footlifter" marches as they, representing the State of Alabama, passed the Bush reviewing stand at the White House. Photo source: Auburn Alumnews.
