Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 338: Barry Mask, Auburn's first Aubie, became National Mascot Champion in 1980. And during the 1980s and 1990s, Aubie became as much a symbol of The Auburn Spirit as did Toomer's Corner during a victory celebration. Aubie was selected No. 1 collegiate mascot in 1991, 1995, and 1996 after championship finals of the Universal Cheerleaders Association at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Three students shared Aubie duties each school year. Aubie is pictured during a 1986 parade. Photo source: Glomerata, Auburn University Archives.
