Summary: | This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 42: Cadets, the few coeds, and other town girls enjoyed outings in the 1890s carefully supervised by faculty members and their wives. When night fell at Wright's mill, old-times recalled, young couples were required to hold a lighted candle within sight of the chaperones. Identifiable at lower left is Professor A. F. McKissick, with fishing pole, bait can, and fish. He taught the first electrical engineering course in the South at Auburn. Photo source: Auburn University Archives.
