Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 144: This 1939 pep rally in Langdon Hall was typical: standing room only. Down front facing left are members of the API band, who usually led the procession into the hall or came in by the fire stairs at the sides. In all probability, team captain Milton "Hatch" Howell and "Dynamite" Dick McGowen were on the stage along with Coach Jack Meagher or one of his assistants to tell the crowd: "We're going to win this one." Langdon had been modernized and had propeller fans suspended from the ceiling. Even with a magnifying glass, the authors could only find four coeds in this picture.
