Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the University. From page 66: Measuring levels and rods have symbolized civil engineering students since before this 1901 class posed with two professors in what is now Samford Park. At left, with beard, was General James H. Lane. In the derby was O. D. Smith, acting president in 1902. To the right of Smith was Paul S. Haley, an Auburn trustee from 1917 until his death in 1968. Haley Center is named for him. Photo source: Auburn University Archives.
