Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 116: Freshman Cleveland Adams of Eufaula began his college career in 1928 with a full head of hair under his cap, a Birmingham News scholarship paying $500 a year, and an armload of books and shoes. The hair was soon to go as the male members of Adams' class became the last to be shorn en masse before President Bradford Knapp stopped the practice. ... Adams survived the indignity, majored in textile engineering, and later headed that department. Photo source: Auburn University Archives.
