Summary: | This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 107: A group of 4-H Clubbers gathered for a ceremony in the 1920s on the baseball field between Alumni Gym (in the background) and Samford Hall. The youths camped in the tents near the gym that male students had lived in during the school year because of a housing shortage. By the 1950s Auburn employees supervised more than 100,000 4-H youths throughout the state. Photo source: Auburn University Archives. |
