This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the University. From page 198: In 1946, forty-nine years after formation of the first cadet band on campus, five coeds became the first API drum majorettes. They were, left to right: Zilpha Ann Draper, Danny Sue Gibson, head majorette Kelda M. Ward, Nancy Young, and Joann "Bunny" Bennett. David A. Herbert became assistant to Paul R. "Bedie" Bidez, longtime director, and developed dramatically different routines for the band's halftime performances at football games. Two years later, majorettes were at the fore when the Auburn band passed in review in Washington, DC, at the inauguration parade of President Harry S. Truman.
