Summary: | This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 168: Lee County High School was built on Samford Avenue at Payne Street in 1931 and more than eight decades later still served the community. For many years it housed all students from first through twelfth grades. It became the middle school after the high school was built on Dean Raod at Samford in the mid-1960s, and later became Auburn Junior High School. Photo source: Auburn University Archives. |
