This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 160: Halfback Monk Gafford (25) and his teammates shocked the football world in November 1942 by thrashing Rose Bowl-bound Georgia, 27-13, at Memorial Stadium in Columbus. Tackle Joe Eddins (18) and fullback Jim Reynolds, trailing the play, are the other Auburn players in the picture. Trying to catch Monk is end George Poschner (41), and that could be All-American Frankie Sinkwich on the ground. Gafford ran for 119 yards on 20 carries and returned three punts for 92 yards.
