Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the University. From page 152-153: ROTC students are shown leaving Bullard Field after completing drill in 1940. At left is Duncan Hall. This drill ground was dedicated in 1930 in honor of General Robert Lee Bullard, World War I hero and Auburn alumnus. In 1952, women's dormitories 5 through 9 were built on the field. ROTC drills were moved to Max Morris Field at Wire Road, West Thach and West Magnolia Avenues. Morris, an outstanding API student and football player, was killed in action during the Korean War.
