Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 2nd edition, 1996, depicting the history of the city and the University. From page 101: Four shorn freshmen, called "rats," posed as hard-drinking poker players in 1917 at Dumas Ranch, a Magnolia Avenue boarding house. While the props may have been staged for the photographs, alumnus Lyle Brown said the pranks were pretty rough. "You might come home and find a yearling tied to your bed," he said.
