Summary:This document is a letter from Robert Tait to Charles William Tait, his older brother. Charles, a plantation owner in Colorado County, Texas, and Robert, a plantation owner in Wilcox County, Alabama, were two of the sons of James Asbury Tait. The letter discusses family matters including a visit to Charles in Texas by other members of the Tait family. The Tait family were plantation owners in Wilcox County, Alabama; active in politics in Georgia, Alabama, and Texas. Family members include Charles Tait (1768-1835), politician and judge in Georgia and Alabama; his son, James Asbury Tait (1791-1855), plantation owner in Wilcox County; and James Goode Tait (1833-1911), the son of James Asbury, who inherited the family plantation. Other family members include Caroline, wife of James Asbury, and their children.
