Summary: | This image is an ink drawing of the Ryder House in Mobile, Alabama. Postcard text: (back) The Ryder House, Mobile's most interesting gift shop, 303 Conti Street, Mobile Alabama. Elizabeth Ryder, British Consul, first came into possession of this property April 5, 1822 and in the year 1843 built the present structure. Title to this property remained in her family for more than 123 years. So typical of Mobile architecture, this charmingly quaint old house was chosen to be perpetuated by the Historic American Buildings Survey and detailed drawings of it are preserved in the archives. |
