Description
Summary:Pamphlet: contains songs, poems, drawings, transcribed oral interviews, and recitations written February 12, 1998, by students of Meek School and Larry Long in Arley, Alabama. The pamphlet also lists the names of the participants including students and teachers of the classes at Meek School, the WFFN radio station in Jasper, and the Winston County Times. In the oral histories, elders in the community related aspects of their childhood and life in Arley and shared lessons and words of encouragement with the students. The students, with the help of Larry Long, wrote folk songs about these experiences. PACERS (Program for the Academic and Cultural Enhancement of Rural Schools) seeks to highlight the merit of rural schools and organizations.
