Summary:The Akron Rambler is a bi-monthly, school newspaper created by the students and staff of the Akron Community School in Hale County, Alabama. It contains school and community news articles, book reviews, letters to the editors, original stories, student art, and personals/classifieds. Content addresses topics including new honor roll inductees, student council election results, global warming, letters to Santa, classroom science projects, the Akron Boys and Girls Club, and the first meeting of the local Girl Scouts of America troop. The Akron Community School is a K-6 institution that launched its student paper with support from PACERS (Program for the Academic and Cultural Enhancement of Rural Schools) to document the importance of rural schools in fostering and preserving community in Alabama.
