A phrase "Entered according to Act of Congress the 29 day of Oct. 1818 by John Melish" is printed under the title. Remarks are inserted under the title to provide statistical, geological, and geographical details on the state of Alabama. A seal that states " ENG DEPT. U STATES TOP BUREAU: is placed at the lower portion of the map. A phrase "Philadelphia published by John Melish, improved to 1819" is printed under the bottom neat line. The map is a photocopy of a printed map and is encapsulated. The map has some ink marks and some parts are dark in color. As a whole, most of the information is still legible.
