Description
Summary:This image is a map of the state of Alabama in 1953, showing the distribution of soil types and/or soil properties throughout Alabama. Different soil groups are shown by the use of different colors and symbols. There is a legend on the back for soil discussions. Paragraph at the bottom of the map states that the source of data is compiled from county maps and consolidated into groups. A compass rose is placed at the upper left corner to display the orientation of the cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west. A county index is placed at the upper right corner for reference. Grid lines are drawn to show townships. This collection has three copies of the same map. They are all printed paper maps. Copy 1 is not encapsulated. Copy 2 and 3 are encapsulated.
