Description
Summary:This image is a map showing the topography of the areas to the west and northwest of the city of Durand in Meriwether County, Georgia. The map shows contour lines, rivers, lakes, ponds, swamps, railroads, roads, cities, towns, buildings, orchards, churches, cemeteries, and boundaries between counties in Georgia. The map is mapped, edited, and published by U.S. Geological Survey, with control by USGS, USC&GS, and Georgia Geodetic Survey. Topography is done with photogrammetric methods from aerial photographs taken in 1962 and field checked in 1964. Other detailed information on the map are stated in the lower right corner and reads as follows: “Polyconic projection. 1927 North American datum. 10,000-foot grid based on Georgia coordinate system, west zone. 1,000-meter Universal Transverse Mercator grid ticks, zone16, shown in blue. Fine red dashed lines indicate selected fence and field lines where generally visible on aerial photographs. This information is unchecked.” Along the bottom of the map from left to right are the map information, an image showing the UTM Grid and 1964 Magnetic North Declination at center of sheet, the map scale, a map locator showing the location of the quadrangle in Georgia, and a road classification index. In the lower right corner, there is a sub-title “DURAND, GA.” with index number “N3252.5 - W8445/7/5” right below it. The map is indexed by the U.S. Army Map Service as “AMS 4049 IV NE-SERIES V845”. The map is an original printed copy and is encapsulated. The map is in good condition.
