description This image is a map showing the topography of the areas surrounding the Cumberland Plateau in Jackson County, Alabama and neighboring counties. The map shows contour lines, mountains, plateaus, rivers, creeks, railroads, roads, ferries, cities, towns, buildings, factories, and boundaries with neighboring counties. The map is prepared by U. S. Geological Survey. The contributors are acknowledged in the lower left side of the map and are stated as follows: “Henry Gannett, Chief Geographer. Gilbert Thompson, Geographer in charge. Triangulation by the U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. Topography by Louis Nell”. The survey was done in 1884-5 and the map was reprinted in 1925. The contour interval is 100 feet and datum is mean sea level. The projection used is Polyconic projection. There is a scale in the center along the bottom of the map and a subtitle “SCOTTSBORO, ALA.” in the lower right corner. The map is a photocopy and is encapsulated. The map is in good condition.
