description This image is a map showing the topography of the areas surrounding the city of Montgomery and a section of the Alabama River that passes through that region. The map shows contour lines, mountains, rivers, lakes, swamps, railroads, roads, cities, towns, buildings, churches, schools, hospitals, parks, ferries, and boundaries with neighboring counties. The map is prepared by U.S. Geological Survey of the Department of Interior. The contributors are acknowledged in the lower left side of the maps and are stated as follows: “Topography by B.A. Jenkins, W.B. Brewer, J.K. Bailey, and G.A. Mock. Alabama River by Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army. Control by U.S. Geological Survey.” The survey was done in 1927 and the map was reprinted in 1944. The contour interval is 20 feet. Datum is mean sea level. Other technical details are stated in the lower right side of the map and are listed as follows: “Polyconic projection. North American Datum. 5000 yard grid based upon U.S. zone system. C”. Along the bottom of the map from left to right are the map information, an image showing the Approximate Mean Declination 1927, the map scale, and a legend. There is a subtitle “MONTGOMERY, ALA.” in the lower right corner with the index “N3215-W8615/15” printed below it. There is a property stamp of U.S. Geological Survey Library, Denver with the date Feb. 8, 1957 right on top of the map key. There is also a USGS Library -Denver barcode right below the map scale. The map is a photocopy and is encapsulated. The map is in good condition.
