Summary:This image is a soil survey map of Choctaw County, Alabama in 1921. The map shows the distribution of soil types by colors and symbols. Other features that are shown on the map include cities, towns, schools, churches, cemeteries, roads, railroads, bridges, rivers, and creeks. There is a legend on soil types and a key on conventional signs used in soil maps in the lower right. In the bottom left margin, there is a statement stating that the soils survey was done by Howard C. Smith, in charge, and Clarence Lounsbury of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and J.F. Stroud of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries. The map is printed by "A. Hoen & Co. Lith of Baltimore, Maryland." It is an original printed copy and is encapsulated. Except for some minor wear around the edges and folding lines, the map is in good condition.
