description This image is one of three maps by Hale drawn from aerial photos of the old federal highway system in Macon County, Alabama, showing the site of the Lettered Beech Tree and Fort Hull. The federal road is shown to run from the east, passing through Old Dog Run Log Cabin, Fort Hull, and Lettered Beech on its way, towards Fort Decatur and La Place in the west. The map shows geographical features like rivers, creeks, springs, and hills. It also shows forts, cemeteries, houses, log cabins, and a stockade mount. A detailed front view of the Dog Run House is drawn in the upper right corner, showing the exact location of the front entrance. The map has a lot of notes written beside the symbols to provide more detailed information. For example, beside the cemetery symbol, there are notes written as "3 graves (think one Capt. Owens & others Drummer Boy and Green Berry A. Rifleman), there were not any markers on these graves, part of the stockade mound still there". Another note which says, "No other roads are shown on this sketch" is found in the lower left corner. There is a compass rose in the upper right, showing the orientation of north. There is also an "Auburn University Libraries, Auburn, Alabama, Map Collection" property stamp dated July 16, 1990 in the lower right corner. The handwritten "6A" and "Sheet 6A" are found in each corner. This map is a photocopy of a hand drawn blueprint and is not encapsulated. The map is in fair condition with some blue stains on the creases.
