Description
Summary:This image is a detailed map of the state of Alabama in 1849, showing railroads, roads, canals, rivers, capitols, counties, cities, towns, and forts during that period of time. Counties are highlighted by bold lines. Rivers, cities, towns, and forts are labeled. Rivers and cities for small portions of the neighboring states are shown. Grid lines are used to show townships. Relief is shown by hachure. A phrase "Entered according to the Act of Congress in the year 1842 by Sidney E. Morse & Samuel Breese in the Clerks Office of the Southern district of New York" is printed under the bottom neat line. A map key is provided on the lower right side. The map is a photocopy of a printed map and is encapsulated. Some information on the map is hard to read because the image is quite blurry. Except for some tape marks on the four corners, the map is still in good condition.
