description |
This image is a map of the state of Alabama in 1934 showing the highway routes and other principal roads inside Alabama and small portions of its neighboring states of Georgia and Mississippi during that period of time. Highways and roads of different conditions are denoted by different types of red markings. A map key for explanation is provided on the bottom of the map (which is being folded to the back when encapsulation is done). An index showing the mileage for principle through routes between cities is placed on the right side of the map. A phrase "This image must not be copied in whole or in part without written permission of General Drafting Co. Inc." is printed below the map key. The map also shows railroads, capitols, counties, cities, towns, forts, rivers, and national forests. The map has no formal title on it because the map is actually printed on the back of a pamphlet of size 18 1/2" x 9 " when folded. The pamphlet has the formal title, texts, index of principal cites, towns, and pictures on Alabama's scenic beauty and natural resources printed on it. The map is an original copy of a printed map and is encapsulated. There are some small missing patches and tears on the right margin of the map. But the main content of the map is still in good shape. |
