description "A well pleased body of 20,000 students and alumni saw Auburn thoroughly trounce Mississippi State 25 to 6 in Auburn's annual homecoming classic. The game was played in the newly dedicated Hare Stadium before the largest crowd ever to attend a sports event in Auburn. It was Auburn all the way as the Tigers coasted to their first S.E.C. victory since 1947. With Tidwell in the driver's seat the Tigers played their best offensive game of the season. Tidwell scored two touchdowns, Lagner added another, Tucker kicked two extra points and a field goal, and Captain Pyburn rounded out the scoring by tackling a State man behind his goal for a safety. The Tigers had finally broken into the win column and from this game on they were a team to be reckoned with." (Description taken from the 1950 Glomerata)
