Summary: | This picture of Eugene B. Sledge was taken in his junior year at Auburn University in 1948 while he was working on his Bachelor of Science degree. Sledge fought with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, he went to Auburn University on the GI bill to get his college education. Sledge completed his Bachelor degree and got a Master's degree in biology from Auburn. He obtained a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Florida and went on to spend his career as a professor of biology at the University of Montevallo. |
