Summary:The Blackburn House is a perfect example of a story-and-a-half "Saltbox" style home with a proportioned Italianate portico. The home was constructed around 1873 by Edward Alexander Blackburn (1840-1899). The house served as the center for the community of Blackburn, which expanded around it. The Blackburn house is located five miles west of Athens, Alabama at the corner of the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and Limestone County Road 43.
