The letters date from early 1863, and describe camp life. In addition, the collection contains two letters, from Lieutenant W. N. Mickle and D. H. Douglass, to Williams’s parents, describing the circumstances of his death in the Battle of Chancellorsville in May 1863. One of the letters comments on Williams’s religious state at the time of his death.
