Spent the day in Camp Douglass, Ill Lt. Seligson gave us a New Year supper. We had a nice time weather warm, rained I the evening. Saturday, January 3, 1863 Staid in camp all day Nothing of importance occurred Wrote to Wm. [page 12] Sunday, January 4, 1863 Went to the city with Barnach & Benson Took dinner at Mr. Nashes! After ten went to Mr. Cofters and spent the evening. Returned to camp at 12 oclock. Monday, January 5, 1863 Remained in camp all day A man was found drowned in a well near camp. Evening held our first clubb meeting. Question mixer discussion was resolved that the Indian has received mor injury from the white man than the Negro. Disputants. Af to G.W. tucker + P.
