He was the first farm agent in Limestone County, 1914-1928, and the first Director of Alabama Extension Service Experimental Station near Belle Mina, Alabama, from 1928-1954. As the first county agent in Limestone County, he went by horseback all over the county helping farmers with their crops. He would often be gone days at a time and would stay with farmers along his route. In 1947, he was named Man of the Year in state agriculture. Fred Stewart was born May 1, 1889 in Abercrombie, Bibb County, Alabaama. He died on Aug 13, 1961, Belle Mina, Limestone County, Alabama.
