Summary: | These men doing calisthenics were students at the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1917. They are unidentified. Male students were called cadets and participated in military training in addition to their studies. They were required to wear gray military uniforms. The photograph comes from the scrapbook of Louise Hernandez (1900-1984) of Birmingham, Alabama which included letters from different beaus. One of them was possibly an Auburn student and the original source of the photograph. The image was donated by Donna Arcara of Hoover, Alabama.
