Summary: | Charles Woodward Simmons was a student at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (now Auburn University), class of 1887. He received a M.S. from Auburn in 1888 and went on to become a lawyer. His senior year, he resigned as captain of Company A and became Major of the Corps of Cadets. Male students were called cadets and participated in military training in addition to their studies. They were required to wear gray military uniforms.
