Summary:These men were students and faculty at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (now Auburn University) in 1890. Standing from left to right: Groce Harrison, class of 1890, Will Weisinger, Professor P.H. Mell and his wife, Mrs. Annie Mell, and Dr. George Petrie. Sitting in the middle: Wallace Dunlap holding kitten, Arthur St. C. Dunstan, class of 1889 (graduate degrees in 1890 and 1891) holding Moses Hardin (the cook’s son) and kitten. Sitting on the ground: William Audley Marshall, class of 1891 and Chilton Thorington. Male students were called cadets and participated in military training in addition to their studies.
