The pamphlet "What You Can Do for Americanization" outlines strategies to effect Americanization in immigrant communities. It urges all citizens to understand and reach out to "our New American neighbors" and encourages businessmen, young people, women, and other groups to use different tactics to promote Americanization. U.S. Chamber of Commerce Bulletin No. 24 includes articles concerning Independence Day celebrations of "foreign-born citizens," as well as Americanization efforts in industry and war work. The flier "Making Foreign-Born Workers Americans" outlines techniques for Americanizing immigrants in the industrial workforce. The flier "How to Reach Aliens with War Information," advises using "pro-American propaganda." Americanization techniques include distributing posters and handbills, establishing information centers and fraternal societies, and placing propaganda materials in library books and pay envelopes. The items are accompanied by a letter from Edwin A. Rumbell, Assistant to the National Americanization Committee, to W.E. Henderson of the Alabama Governor's office. |
