Other notable items include a letter of resignation from Senator William Metcalf; a letter about a vacancy in Clarke County after the appointed judges refused to qualify for the posts; and letters of resignation from various state and local officials in 1821. Some items are addressed to the General Assembly but were forwarded to the governor for his action.
