Letter from Private George A. White in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to his brother, John M. White, in Pikeville, Alabama.
During the Civil War, George White serviced in Company H of the 26th Alabama Infantry regiment. In this letter, he asks his brother to send him a pair of boots. He also writes that whiskey is scarce in camp is scarce and expensive, selling for $15 a quart and $1 a drink.
