Confidential Memorandum No. 33, from the headquarters of the 42nd Division of the American Expeditionary Forces in France, regarding an upcoming month of field service.
The memo lists the pieces of the field service uniform, as well as the articles that are to be carried in each soldier's pack. It also gives storage locations for excess baggage and stores. The message was issued by Lieutenant Douglas MacArthur, chief of staff of the National Guard Bureau.
