Description
Summary:A flyer announcing a rally in Union Square, New York City, printed by the New York District International Labor Defense and sent to Governor Miller. The flyer also urges people to send telegrams to Governor Miller, Attorney General Knight, Judge Horton, President Roosevelt, and Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes. It makes six demands including postponement of the trial; change of venue to Birmingham, Ala.; a jury made up Negroes and white workers; protection of the Scottsboro Boys, their lawyers and witnesses; a disbanding of all K.K.K. lynch gangs; and a "right of self-defense of Negro and white workers against armed terror." It announces several noteworthy individuals who will speak at the event, including Haywood Patterson's mother.
