Statement by Captain John Pierson of the 10th Michigan Infantry, regarding the confiscation of Isaac Winston's property (including 88 slaves) in Lawrence County, Alabama.
Pierson ends the statement with a note to his wife in Pontiac, Michigan: "I send you Winstons [sic] Horse that he used to Rout [sic] his negroes in the morning they are now working for the price of liberty and do not Require driving." A transcription is included.
